Experiences with a Two-Level Modelling Approach to Electronic Health Records

چکیده
In today’s distributed healthcare environment, information is a key asset and getting access to that data is vital to the management of a patient’s health. Electronic Health Record (EHR) standards aim to assist in the interoperable access and integration of this distributed information. However, there are difficulties applying traditional system development approaches to EHR standards because of the complexity and range of clinical data. The Good Electronic Health Record (GEHR), a framework for structuring, storing and sharing EHRs, uses an innovative two-level modelling approach to overcome these difficulties. In this approach, all types of clinical data are stored using a generic model, and constraint models called “archetypes” ensure that the data represents valid clinical concepts. To test this approach, two field trials funded by the Australian General Practice Computing Group (GPCG) looked at exporting data from existing systems to GEHR. In this paper, we describe GEHR’s “archetype” approach and describe the outcomes of the trials. متن کاملTrend of Changes in Blood Sugar and Glycated Hemoglobin in Electronic Health Records, Sari, Iran 2012- 2018
Background and purpose: High prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and its demand for regular care have resulted in a massive amount of electronic health records (EHRs). Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) levels are two widely-used diagnostic measures for evaluation of diabetes care. This study aimed at assessing Family Medicine Plan (FMP) and exploring the trend of ch...
متن کاملExplaining the Barriers and Deficiencies of a Family Physician Program Based on Electronic Health Record: A Qualitative Research
Introduction: Electronic health record is electronic data of “entire life of a person” registered by healthcare providers and shared in different health centers. The electronic health record has been announced to all medical universities of the country since March 2016 by launching the Integrated Health System (SIB). This study explains the barriers and shortcomings of the family physician prog...
متن کاملModelling Context-Aware Security for Electronic Health Records Using Contextual Graphs
The paper presents an approach to modelling security for electronic health records by using Contextual Graphs. Such graphs provide the context in which security policies should be used, i.e. such graphs function as meta-policies. We argue that such an approach has the advantages of modularity and ease of understanding, and supports fine-grained security determined by contexts such as location, ...
